Quickstart
Sign up, create a key, then make your first REST or MCP request. The REST API is at https://api.tauric.ai and
the hosted MCP server at https://mcp.tauric.ai/mcp.
Sign up and create a key
- Sign up or sign in at tauric.ai/login.
- Open the API keys page (tauric.ai/settings/api-keys) and press Create key. Enter a Name, choose Expires, and press Create key. The key gets everything your tier includes (entitlements).
- Copy the key now: it is shown only once (keys).
Keep the key out of your code; set it as an environment variable.
export TAURIC_API_KEY="your-key"
Make a REST request
Authenticated requests send the key in the Authorization: Bearer header. This request returns Apple's latest quote:
curl https://api.tauric.ai/v1/securities/AAPL/quote \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TAURIC_API_KEY"
This one returns your account's usage today, shared by all your keys. Under account are your credit pools, each
with what is used and its allowance, and resets_at.
curl https://api.tauric.ai/v1/account/usage \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $TAURIC_API_KEY"
Add -i to see the HTTP status. Errors are typed: for example, an unknown symbol returns 404 not_registered
(error codes). For the same requests from Python, see
Python examples.
Make an MCP call
Claude Code
Add the server with your key:
claude mcp add --transport http --scope user tauric https://mcp.tauric.ai/mcp \
--header 'Authorization: Bearer ${TAURIC_API_KEY}'
Start claude from a shell where TAURIC_API_KEY is set. See use with AI assistants for
details.
Claude, ChatGPT, and other clients
Claude, ChatGPT, and Claude Code can also connect by signing in, with no key: see use with AI assistants.
Example prompts
Ask your assistant, or use the matching REST route:
- "Compare Apple and SPY over the last month. Name the start and end dates and say whether the prices are adjusted."
- "Search the news for semiconductor export restrictions since September, read the three most relevant articles and summarize what each one says, with its date and link."
- "Show the ECB EUR/USD reference rates since July and explain what a reference rate is."
- "What were US CPI and payrolls for the last three months?"
- "Run one research report on Microsoft and tell me its evidence date and limitations." This uses your AI pool.
Read the answer
- Check how current a value is: freshness.
- Read percents and changes: changes and percents.
- Read a bar's adjustment and settlement: price history.
- Read a
nullfield or a typed error: missing values. - Continue a page: pagination.
- See what is served and how far back: coverage and discovery.
- See every route's parameters and response fields: the API reference.
AI answers and research reports can contain errors. Check them against the data.
Check your limits
Your tier sets your limits, shared by all your keys and your website session. The default tier allows:
| limit | default tier |
|---|---|
| requests per minute | 60 |
| credits per UTC day (how credits are counted) | 10,000 (data 3,000, AI 7,000) |
GET /v1/account/usage shows your tier, limits, and what is left today. Limits and usage
lists every tier.
